Swedish Innovations travel to India

Sweden is to show the world what the urban development of the future could look like. Noise prevention solutions from Controllable Urban Soundscape and the housing concept HSB Living Lab have been chosen for display at a large international smart cities conference in India. 

The international venue Smart Cities India 2016 Expo has started. The innovation projects Controllable Urban Soundscape and HSB Living Lab, both from Gothenburg, are presented there as good future solutions for larger cities.
– Sweden is well positioned to stay at the forefront of developing solutions to complex societal challenges. But in order for them to become attractive innovations, we have a need for more projects, says Daniel Rencrantz at the Swedish Innovation Agency Vinnova, co-financer of the project.

Important venue
The Gothenburg players Johanneberg Science Park and innovation consultants IMCG are in India to present the innovative projects at the expo.
– This conference is strategically important for the development of smart cities in India. We establish networks and contacts for future collaborations with industry, science parks and academia. Displaying good examples of demonstration arenas such as the unique and successful triple-helix collaboration HSB Living Lab, is an important part of our work with innovation for sustainable development, says Maria Ådahl, responsible for Open Arena Urban Development at Johanneberg Science Park.

Controllable Urban Soundscape is an innovation project where mobile and scalable glass solutions are developed in order to create calm oases in city centers. Disturbing traffic noise is reduced with the help of advanced technology, which creates a more pleasant sound experience. The technology concept is tested in parks and public spaces in London and Gothenburg.

HSB Living Lab is the first 3rd generation living lab where students and guest researchers will live, test new materials, technical solutions and evaluate ideas regarding the next generation of housing. The living lab is located in Gothenburg and consists of 29 apartments equipped with monitor stations and sensors. HSB Living Lab is a collaboration 10-year project between 12 partners from industry and academia.
